Introduction
About a year ago, I got into the habit of journalist and writing poetry. It wasn't very good at first (and still isn't very good) but I improved and enjoyed the art of writing words without grammar and with feeling. So, after some rumination, I decided I would publish a poem onto my (audienceless) blog just for fun in a mini post! This poem is from last November, and I uncreatively named it 'The Theatre'. It is about the quieter injustices in life...I'm sure you can think of some. Here goes:
closed secrets, stage laughs
white lies, turned backs
it's like the council has divided
end to end, did we decide this?
little gifts, bought love
quiet texts, not enough
they disappear and don't look back
leaving us to fade to black
we didn't choose this
where is the unity
the royal couple
doesn't answer to our calls
we stop and stare
as they sit on gold thrones
far away, far away
the kingdom rules alone
So Yeah...
Upon rereading this poem, I think a lot about how, while this poem was born out of a petty unhappiness, it also can apply to the separation in the world between those with power and those without, which makes me a little sad...it also reminds me of how cruel and thoughtless people can be in average social situations. But this is also a call to action, telling us to wake up from our trance and realise what we and what the world are doing, and whether it's right or not. So, my dear readers, I hope you all can try to do some good out there. It starts with a smile!
Thanks for existing!
